Tidbits – 7/11/11

“U.S. employers added 18,000 workers in June, less than forecast and the fewest in nine months….”

9.1 percent unemployment has turned into 9.2 percent unemployment in the past month – “unexpectedly”!

“The so-called underemployment rate – which includes part- time workers who’d prefer a full-time position and people who want work but have given up looking – increased to 16.2 percent from 15.8 percent.”

Time to do the math…. hmmm…. 9.2 + 16.2 equals a grand total of!… (carry the one….) …. 25.4!

More than one-fourth of the U.S. population is less than fully-employed. This is beyond ridiculous!

and now, for those who still count as Employed:
“… average weekly earnings fell 0.3% as hourly earnings were flat and the average work week fell 0.1 hours. However, at the same time earnings for May was upwardly revised by 0.1%.”

So you made more in May, but now that summer’s come, you’re making less. Hope you made the most of that May boost!

“On Friday deficit reduction targets in talks between the GOP and the President were cut from $4 trillion to $2 trillion over the next decade. This would be in exchange for a $2.4 trillion debt ceiling hike, which will last the Treasury until the next presidential election. In other words, the Treasury needs to fund a $2.4 trillion deficit over the next 15 months. Over a decade this comes to $20 trillion in debt: ten times more than the proposed deficit reduction over the same period.”              ~ A Hot Air Commenter

Project Gunwalker: illustrated!

This is a bigger story than Watergate was, but will the MSM cover it? My guess: barely. They will do the minimum until the last bit of new information is publicized…. then they will help it to drift silently into the dark night. But this story aims to keep it on the front burner for a long time…! Notice it’s published in the Examiner – a citizen-contributed publication, in various cities, mostly (or completely) published online.

And a last bit, previously disseminated only on Skype: In regards to the Bo Dizzle’s Twitter Town Hall (is there REALLY such a thing?!?!?), Iowahawk offers these questions (none of which, btw, did Teh Won deign to answer):

#askobama when you create jobs, why do always create them for Texas?

#askobama how much CO2 is created by a burning straw man?

#askobama When your economic advisors hold policy meetings, do they stuff a towel at the bottom of the door?

#askobama On behalf of the entire US population: dude, WTF?

#askobama Is this question racist?

#askobama is there any job you’d be better at than president?

#askobama the staffer who suggested this Twitter Town Hall is fired, isn’t he?

#askobama have you ever had a menial job, changed your own oil, or fixed a toilet?

#askobama An $8 billion high speed train leaves Chicago for Iowa City at 8:15am at 40mph. Why?
