Obama will honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and the 11 other Chase drivers from LAST YEAR! in a White House ceremony on Wednesday…..
LAST YEAR!?!?!? Hey, if Teh Bo Dizzle ain’t in that much of a hurry, what’s so special about it?
Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart – will not be attending the White House visit due to “schedule conflicts.”
Now, an Update to the article says that Kurt Busch WILL be there…..
YAY TONE-EEEEEE!! And Congrats also to Greg, Carl, and Kevin.
OH – BTW – the WEDNESDAY they will be meeting with Teh Bo is the day of the Republican Debate! Bo had to move his speech – ’cause Speaker of the House Boehner said Congress wouldn’t be coming to his speech on Wednesday….!
So now Bo is having a hastily-scheduled NASCAR moment….!!!
A Commenter notes:
If anything, I would imagine the businessman in Tony Stewart would love to attend so that he could reinforce the importance of keeping the Army sponsorship for Stewart-Haas Racing. Remember it was just a couple of months ago that Rep. Betty McCollum (D-Minn.) was trying to introduce legislation to end military sponsorship of NASCAR.
So you see what the Dems spend their time doing…..!! The Army, Marines, Air Force, and Navy all run ads on TV urging people to join. But some Democrat is pissed that one of them advertises on NASCAR. We don’t want no rednecks joining the military! Or maybe we just don’t want them Happy they joined….!!!
O M G : this article about Bo’s NASCAR moment in the Washington Times takes a more political look at it. This explains the timing of the invitation:
As for the event with race car drivers, the White House said the president “will also recognize the efforts by Jimmie Johnson and NASCAR to give back to their community as part of their visit, continuing the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring athletes and sports teams for their efforts on and off the field.”
The explanation lies in the date of the meeting, September 8th, three days before the 11th. Teh Bo Dizzle has decided that Americans should not focus on the tragedy of 9/11, but should offer repentance on that day, by making it a Day Of Service. What better way to push that message than by hoodwinking NASCAR drivers into a ‘service’ photo-op?
