Stuff I Read Today….

Wow:

Iran raised the prospect on Tuesday of sending military ships close to the United States’ Atlantic coast, in what would be a major escalation of tensions between the long-standing adversaries.

“Like the arrogant powers that are present near our marine borders, we will also have a powerful presence close to American marine borders,” the head of the Navy, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said, according to the official IRNA news agency.

Sayyari gave no details of when such a deployment could happen or the number or type of vessels to be used.

Of course he didn’t………!

The Environmental Protection Agency has said new greenhouse gas regulations, as proposed, may be “absurd” in application and “impossible to administer” by its self-imposed 2016 deadline.

But the agency is still asking for taxpayers to shoulder the burden of up to 230,000 new bureaucrats — [… to process all the extra paperwork! ], at a cost of $21 billion — to attempt to implement the rules.

That cost does not include the economic impact of the regulations themselves.

Herman Cain, in the last Repub. debate (1:38 of lol!!!) …!!

Ground Zero Mosque Blinked!

Last month, in an amazing feat of contrition mixed with public-relations savvy, the man who controls 51 Park Place, the spot where developers threatened to build a 15-story, $100 million mega-mosque and Islamic center in the shadow of Ground Zero — said such a project will NOT BE BUILT.

Woo-HOO!

El-Gamal said raising $100 million was unrealistic. …

Heh. Reeaaally?

“If the community only wants four or five floors, it’s going to be four or five floors,’’ said El-Gamal. And maybe not that many.

Plus, he said it would take at least five years before he could raise two dimes and start building.

IF then…!

There’s more in that article – go ahead & read both pages. (I always enjoy the NY Post articles – they have meat in them, if I’ve linked to them…)

(hat tip: Atlas , who has more details, as usual, about the skeevy GZM proponents…)

Liberal Newsweek Editor Admits: Obama ‘Wasn’t Ready’ to Be President

(hat tip:  From On High)

“The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

President Obama’s chief political adviser is calling President Barack Obama’s road to re-election a “Titanic struggle.”

A Commenter:

Do icebergs come from Alaska?

And a bunch of Firefly quotes, courtesy of a professor who put this first one on his office door:

Go To Pic first:

“You don’t know me, son, so let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you’ll be awake. You’ll be facing me. And you’ll be armed.”

When the Administration took that down, he put up this one:

“Fascism can cause blunt head trauma and/or violent death. Keep fascism away from children and pets.”

Persistent Admin. took that one down, too, so now he has enlisted help from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

Courtesy of MM Commenters, other fav quotes from Firefly:

Zoe: “Preacher, don’t the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing?

Book: “Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.”

And, of course:

“Yep, a ship like this will be with you till the day you die”

“… Because it’s a death trap, sir”

And, perhaps the last for today….

The NY Times has an article about a college protest-sale:

A bake sale sponsored by a Republican student group at the University of California, Berkeley, has incited anger and renewed the debate over affirmative action by asking students to pay different prices for pastry, depending on their race and sex.

On Facebook, the group listed the price for a pastry at $2 for white students, $1.50 for Asian students, $1 for Latinos, 75 cents for African-Americans and 25 cents for Native Americans. Women of all races were promised a 25-cent discount.

(hat tip Michelle Malkin)

lolol !!!!! Before we go on, a few details about the purpose of the Protest Bake Sale:

The bake sale was scheduled to protest a phone bank organized by … the campus student government group, where students planned to call Gov. Jerry Brown and urge him to sign a Senate bill that would allow public universities to consider race, gender and ethnicity in admissions decisions.

They needed that, because:

In 1996, voters in the state passed a ballot initiative, known as Proposition 209, prohibiting affirmative action in admissions.

But wait! There’s a New Reason to get one’s panties in a twist!:…  While some might find it difficult to afford their sugar buzz at this event, others were also miffed:

“A lot of students, especially students of color, read it as placing a higher value on white students.”

O  M  G  . I always thought that higher education referred to increasing one’s knowledge, an activity engaged in by those who practice USING THEIR BRAINS. But, read on in the story, and you’ll see that the university’s “vice chancellor for equity and inclusion”, who is also a professor, seems to support the brainless zombie-minorities in their whining!

But I can’t say any more about these pouty, complaining (how many words can YOU think of for “stupid”?!?) twenty-somethings. It’s been a long morning, and I’ve got things I wanna do………..
