Coal-fired power plants are now generating just 36 percent of U.S. electricity, versus 44.6 percent JUST ONE YEAR AGO.
The Bo D. is happy, keeping his 2008 campaign promise to make electricity prices “necessarily skyrocket.” – but no one else can afford the commensurate rise in electric rates.
Skyrocket? In a recent wholesaler’s electricity “capacity auction”, prices were eight to TWENTY-TWO times last year’s prices!!
Why? The higher the price, the more coal plants in that area that are being closed down due to the new, white-glove EPA requirements.
I don’t know anybody who thinks electricity is cheap now. What’s it going to be like NEXT WINTER…?!?
